He was born in Ferrara (Italy). His mother marrried when he was three and they moved to the U.S. He grew up in Pittsburgh. His grandfather, Ugo De Paoli, and mother, Anna De Paoli, were both painters. He learned drawing techniques from his mother at an early age. He won his first art competition when he was seven.
Though painting and drawing were his passion he soon developed a love of literature and philosophy. So together with his ongoing studies in oil painting, art anatomy, pottery, and other art forms he went on to study philosophy. In New York, he wrote a couple of plays, one was performed at New York University. He moved to Paris, then to Milan (the newspaper clipping is a link to the full article of his first exhibition there), and finally Rome.
He left that behind for a few years to study physics and become a math and English teacher.
He now has expanded his art career by going back to his passions: drawing, pastels, and especially oil painting.
He has published poetry in the French poetry journal Les Citadelles. He also regularly contributes essays to the online journal kulturjam.it and other magazines.
He was criticized in the past for not sticking to one style, but he prefers to let the emotion and message dictate the wide range of possible expressions.
